Of Israel, Muslims and Sharon

Aerial Sharon: “The most inconsiderate, duplicative, emotionless and brutal creature on earth.” “Devil’s Incarnation” “I am glad the culprit of Sabra and Shatila has joined his ancestors, others will do so too, very soon” – Ahmad Nizzad.
Yes, I understand. He was a bad man. A very bad man. Sharon served and ruled with equal brutality, ruthlessness towards his foes all the while that he has been alive. And all you hear people chanting is that his demise is a sign of the demise of a greater evil – a reign of oppression and adversity in the Middle East.

Yes, very right, all of you are. But here is my question. And remember I am as Muslim conservative as it can get. And here is what I ask. If it had been your country, established on completely and fundamentally enemy territories, faced by 3 wars within the first 15 years of its existence, wouldn’t you come down hard and fast upon who ever you consider as your enemy. Wouldn’t you fight tooth and nail to protect something your forefathers have been dying of dreaming? I know the answer for myself – I would. I would have done the same things for Pakistan, or now would do for America if circumstances turn out to be so. Is patriotism a religion, or is religion in itself is a proponent of patriotism? You inherit it not from your parents but from your own affiliation with the land you dwell in. with the people you grow up with.

In 1917, when the Balfour declaration came out the prime reason of it was the Palestinian Arabs selling gigantic pieces of land to the Jewish immigrants from eastern Europe and elsewhere. It was Syria’s very own president Asad the senior who endorsed an Israeli controlled territory for the small Jewish population there. And that’s what they built. A small territory that did not include west bank, ghaza, Galilee or Golan. It was very limited, small and contained. Then, all of a sudden, in 1948, Egypt, Syria and Jordan mounted a combined attack on Israel, and were totally owned by the simple will of the Israeli’s to survive. They did move heaven and earth to contain their race, their beliefs, and their cultures. They did come in to the states, lived in ghettos, faced persecution at mass levels within the United States, but they stayed focus. Never did a Jewish family left another Jewish family in trouble. after all those hard times, the mere caring characteristic of that society for each other and its vision for a better, safer, and more secure future for them became a reality – just on the merely beliefs of them. Learn people. Learn.

Jews remain an inspiration to other civilizations in the world. Their numbers were less, their status was low, and their finances were horrible. Yet, here they are, the key player in global politics. So, Sharon happens to be a typical citizen of the community I just described above. He’s arrogant because he knows being mellow would cost him his backbone. He remained aggressive because defense was impossible in that territory. He was ruthless because mercy would cost him his own sovereignty. Rationally, from an objective point of view, if you put the pieces together you very well understand this modern day metaphor of Hobbs’ central sovereign. Domestically, he is as democratic as it is, internationally, he needs not to be. Go Ariel Sharon, You are an inspiration for me as I embrace your views in order to establish my nation as powerful as Israel, as less threatened as Israel and as influential as Israel. Our religious conflicts aside, I am all respect for Sharon.
