Summer 2006 – Bush visits India, offers nuclear energy.
Islam has never meant to be the religion of extremes. I was born a Muslim, but I chose to stay a Muslim because of this very quality of Islam – The quality of universal adaptability. It is peace for all, and hatred for none but the Satan himself. When a bearded, jubbah wearing khateeb of a wahabbi majority mosque came to me after an Asar prayer, and told me to limit my dua and not be all that dramatic (I was crying to pray for the recovery of my aunt from brain tumor), That was my first exposure to a jahil mullah. I told him he was a jahil mullah, and could care less for his age.
I am a Muslim, and I have the responsibility of maintaining my faith as what it is, of protecting it from looking like the most oppressive system of life and religion in the history. My responsibility is not to convert every human being into a Muslim, or kill them. But wait a second, that’s what Al-Qaeda tells us. That’s what Qazi Hussein Ahmed (Leader of Jamat e Islami, overwhelmingly wahabbi political party in Pakistan) said in October of 2004 when he was asked about his approach towards Tableegh (Preaching/Spreading of Islam). His solution was, either to convert everyone into a wahabbi Muslim, or make him or her subservient to the Muslim state, or eliminate him or her by all means possible.
But my friend, I did not see any hadis (words of Prophet Muhammad PBUH) saying anything like that in all the major 6 books of hadis. And trust me, I have been searching for that since 5 years now. Nothing. All I find Hazrat Muhammad PBUH saying is “Eitadal” (non-extremism, middle ness), Tahammul (Tolerance), and Burdbari (forgiveness, sobriety). And all I find these so called scholars of ours saying is, Intolerance, Violence, Killings, war, war, war and war. So that young men like us could go commit suicides in Palestine just for the sake of aiding (previously) yasir Arafat (now hamas) in strengthening their governments. Yasir Arafat owned 9 mansions all over Europe. Where did that money come from? From young men blowing up innocent civilians, and then the international community giving money to Palestine coz they are violent enough to not run a government successfully. Our brothers go die in Kashmir and Pakistan army benefits. Each year the defense budget is increased just because of the growing number of troops in Kashmir and elsewhere along the LOC.
And why does India increase its troops? Because of all the “Mujahideen” keep escalating violence there. Those mujahideen are average kids, mostly poorly or completely uneducated, poor, but very talented. They go attack the Indians in Kashmir because a jahil mullah sitting in his air-conditioned house convinces them to, and they attack the Indians. Indians increase security in the region, so Pakistan has to spend more money too on the army. All that money is not used to build tanks or bullets my friend, its our lovely officers importing fine brand whiskey, gathering huge real estate properties, and their beacon-house student kids going to the Indian border and saying we want peace! Hah. Peace, my ass.
I stand firmly on my position. Pakistan’s most horrendous, most horrible problem is the lack of education that ranges from civilians to the upper ranking people. And when it reaches these fanatical molvies, who, on one hand say they are the representatives of Islam, and on the other hand use the money collected on the name of Islam to destroy its image – to grow opium in Afghanistan and sell it so alameda could by more protection for that horse’s ass called been laden. I am all respects for learned, unbiased, and optimistic aalims. (dr. shahid masood from ary of whom many of my fellow Pakistanis are quite fans of, is NOT A SCHOLAR to me. Coming on TV and making false statements about a possible Armageddon is not scholarly, it is destructive because it’s the preaching of divide in a time when we need that crap the least). If you want an example of a good scholar, go read Vincent Cornell of Univ. of Kansas.
We talk about how Pakistan and India can compete for global recognition in terms of power balance. Pakistan needs to improve its image, not blame RAW, CIA, or Mosad for all its evils. We all need to do that for Pakistan. We need to make every effort to educate as many kids as we can, so that they could be a lawyer, not a suicide bomber, not another Muslim fighting for the wrong cause. We need to make Pakistan an investor’s heaven.
We need to make sure the next time any molvi (Mullah) in any masjid tells that either Shia’s or Sunni’s or wahabbi’s are bad, that he is expelled from the mosque as well as the city. We need to make sure that anytime a guy comes to you asking for jihad fund, we tell him to give that jihad money to a school, buy a kid some books or food. We don’t need Kashmir, we need Pakistan. We need a stronger Pakistan, not a more violent and socially unstable Palestine. There was no jihad fund in Palestine back when 90 thousand Pakistani soldiers surrendered to India. There was no Hammas or Alfateh coming to help Pakistan when we lost a part of our country. Iran did not do anything when Pakistan was slapped with 30 different trade sanctions after our nuclear tests.
You see? For these fanatics, its not about Islam or Muslims. It is about how, when and where they can gain control of a territory, exploit its resources on the name of Islam, run an unaccounted for state, gather as much money and some fame as well, and then just die like a dog one day. They are not mujahids; they are gangsters, looters, and thugs polluting our beautiful, beautiful religion. Join me in prayers, deeds and actions, in the direction of eliminating the differences that, if ignored any longer will shatter us. Let us prevent our faith, and country from what I see as the 100 years war among Shia’s and Sunnis, just because a jahil mullah named Muhammad Ibn e Wahhab wanted to gain money, created a sect called wahabbi sect to empower Saud’s family in assisting the British settle in Arabia. Let us rise up, through education, through tolerance and through faith. Or else, we wont be left with many choices my friends. Lets try not to get at that point. Peace!
Wouldn’t it be nice that we stopped blaming the west and America for each and every single thing that goes wrong with Pakistan or other Muslim countries?
India acquired its complete nuclear technology from Russia. It has hardly ever purchased or has been provided with any nuclear fuel, equipment or other assistance by the States. India gained this recent deal with the States for Nuclear fuel provision not because the famous Bush-Cheney-Sharon trio (as per popular conspiracy) wants to use India against Pakistan – but because they see a promise in India. A growing economy, providing the vital support for businesses and economies around the globe and therefore becoming part of a great process. I totally admire Indians for taking that role of educating their youths, keeping their politics in order at least on the executive levels. That deal, in fact will require India to open up its reactors for the international monitoring, which will mean an end to India’s nuclear arsenal building. It will, however be capable of producing much more nuclear energy, which consequently will lower its energy costs.
Why did India get this favor and Pakistan did not? Because Pakistan, thanks to those Jahil (ignorant, uneducated) Mullah’s spreading the wrath of violence in the country, has been viewed as a struggling, but overwhelmingly turbulent and therefore undependable nation. Whereas India has increased its Literacy rates, provided the world with a whole generation of engineers, doctors and business gurus, held democratic elections and has maintained an image of a rapidly developing player in the global economy.
Apart from all this, I very strongly believe it would be almost impossible for the deal to go through. Its 2006 already, half gone. The nuclear Aid deal will not be finished from being drafted by november of this year, by the team we get ready for the midterm elections. Soon after that, as we all can see why and how, the formation of a democratic congress (no matter how narrowly) is very imminent. New Congress wouldnt start taking care of business until after christmas retreat, by when other WIP bills such as the much promised stem cell research and Patriot Act will be well in line to be reviewed. The congress will be all focused on war, and how to get bush, not america out of the iraq war. With a surmounting war bill, and presidential nominations starting, the last thing the congress would want to approve is a multi billion dollars aid to india just coz their food is good and IT kicks ass. So, I am not even gonna consider it as a possibility, maybe if we really need something important of them such as mediation (if they make it to the UN secerertary seat etc).
Facts, my friends, are going to help you. Accept them, even though they are not very sweet, because anger, rage and denial of our own ignorance will leave us gasping for our last breaths, as others take out our oxygen. Before we suffer an intellectual death, wake up, learn, educate, and take responsibility for your nation – don’t just graduate get a job and say okay that’s all I had to do. Each one of us is a Jinnah, as long as each one of us practices our commitment, our debt to our motherland.
*Note: I posted this on my blogspot blog last year, at the time when bush was in india. And today, april 22, ayesha saeed, a good friend, informed me of this:
